DORCHESTER Sports will bid to reach the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance Senior Trophy semi-finals when hosting Holt United tomorrow (1.30pm).

Ashley James’ men have a good record in the competition, last reaching the semis in 2021 before bowing out to Merley.

Before the county town side set about chasing an elusive cup final place, they must first beat reigning Dorset Premier League champions Holt.

The Bulls are once again in the mix to retain their title and have the added bonus in confidence of beating Sports already this season, winning 3-2 at Gaunts Common.

Speaking to Echosport, James said: “It’s going to be a difficult game but we’ve got home advantage.

“It’s been patchy lately with games being called off, so I don’t think either team’s going to be sharp.

“It’s going to be a close one and we’ll see who comes out on top. We’re quite evenly matched, in the last four or five games either team has only won by the odd goal.

“Whichever team performs to their best will win the game, hopefully that will be us.”

Dorchester Sports have used last week’s postponement against Merley to get striker Matt Groves fit again, but Todd Coombs (ankle) is 50/50 and goalkeeper Nick Hutchings misses out for a month to visit family in Australia.
