FOLLOWING a weekend off, Dorchester resume their Counties One Tribute Southern South campaign against Corsham tomorrow at Surcouf Park (2pm).

The county town side’s last performance at home brought a strong victory, and their faithful supporters will be hoping for the same again, given the club are commemorating its former president, captain, and legendary tourist, Harry Brewer.

Going into the game against the side directly beneath them in the table, Martin Oxland, director of rugby, said: “The group are looking to bounce back from the disappointment of the last game and Corsham will present us with another challenge to overcome.

“It is vitally important that we take any scoring opportunities we create, as this season so far for us has shown that fine margins both win and lose you games. It is essential we try and keep the scoreboard ticking over.

“Reflecting on our last game, we will be focused on keeping technical infringements to a minimum and maintaining discipline in all areas to ensure we aren't numerically disadvantaged.

“We will plan to defend well and prevent Corsham from creating scoring opportunities ensuring we have the best chance of a positive outcome.”

In selection news, Jamie Morgan, who has performed consistently well this season, is unavailable due to injury but the group welcomes the return of Alex Peel after missing the last game and Callum King who has been out with injury, both included in the matchday squad.

Front row regular Tom Louch will be joined by his brother Jimmy who slots into the second row, alongside Brad Mullins.

Dorchester’s Colts have no game this weekend, so the coaching group are excited about the inclusion of two promising colts in the squad.

Flynn Drummond and Josh White have both impressed the coaches through the season, Drummond will provide back cover whilst White covers the forward line.

The Colts group as a whole have impressed their coaching team this season, and where appropriate in line with the RFU guidelines, they have trained alongside the seniors. They have also been integrated into the senior squad, with some playing for both the club’s A and Gladiators teams.

Oxland, and Colts lead coach Tony O’Connell, have urged them to enjoy the experience and are sure the Dorchester faithful on the touchline will be ready to encourage them when they get their opportunity in the game.

Dorchester A will also include some colts for the matchday squad and will be looking to build on the performance of the last game as they travel to Oakmeadians Seconds in search of another positive performance (2pm).

Elsewhere, two young players that have come through Dorchester youth system, Sammy Lambourn and Dylan Walters, represented the club for the Dorset & Wilts Under-20s trial game against Berkshire, a close encounter in difficult conditions.

Both contributed with positive performances and when home from their studies are running out for the seniors’ section.

Tomorrow will also see contributors to the clubhouse renovations project enjoy a ‘thank you’ buffet lunch laid on by the club, while noting too the invaluable assistance from local businesses Clayson Scaffolding, Hearn Roofing, Dorchester Timber, Max Baggley Plastering and Decorating, and Bryan Tucker Carpentry.
