TERRAS assistant manager Mike Percival said he was "proud" of the team’s performance, despite losing a "frustrating" game 1-0 at home to Braintree.

Weymouth were holding their own in the first half, and had chances to break the deadlock, until Baris Altintop scored from a set-piece in the 76th minute at Bob Lucas Stadium.

Reflecting on the narrow loss, Percival said: “It’s frustrating to lose in the manner that we did to a set piece.

“Finer details are key in this league and that’s probably why they are sat in the top five - they got in the finer details.”

Percival thinks the Terras were denied a "stonewall penalty" that was not given on Ezio Touray shortly before the visitors, who now sit third in the National League South table, scored from a set-piece.

“That would have changed the game,” he said.

“They scored from a set-piece 10 minutes later. We had to chase the game which left pockets of space for them, so it really was fine margins."

He added: “They’re unbeaten in 12 for a reason - they’re a very good side, very well drilled and very organised, but I thought we nullified them pretty well.”

The Terras will face Braintree again in the reverse fixture on Tuesday night (7.45pm), and Percival thinks this will be interesting to see how the sides manage the game.

He said: “It’s interesting, they’ll question whether we’re going with the same shape and we’ll be guessing whether they will go with the same shape.

"So it’s very much that you have to believe in what we’re going to do and not worry about them.”
