DORCHESTER Sports were leapfrogged in the Dorset Premier League standings after falling to a 3-0 home loss against Bournemouth Sports.

Two goals from Taylor Edwards as well as a Jamie Trimble strike earned maximum points for Bournemouth at the Avenue.

The win moves them up to eighth in the table, now one place and one point above Dorchester.

Dorch were seeking a third win on the spin, having beaten both Swanage Town & Herston and Balti Sports, but it was not to be.

Ashley James’s men, who now have 36 points from 23 fixtures, host sixth-placed Holt United on Wednesday (7.45pm), before a trip to Merley Cobham Sports, who sit fourth, on Saturday (3pm).

Balti Sports got back on track with a 3-1 home win over Bridport reserves.

Having endured a run of six defeats on the spin since the turn of the year, Balti raced into a 3-0 half-time lead, before closing out victory.

Balti, who sit 11th in the division, travel to third-placed Sturminster Newton United on Saturday (3pm).

Balti have games in hand on most of the sides above them, and currently have 24 points from their 21 matches.
