BIRTHDAY boy Bobby Wilkinson came away pleased with his Weymouth side after they picked up a point at promotion-chasing Braintree Town, insisting: “Everyone to a man was phenomenal.”

Three days on from the Terras falling to a 1-0 home loss against the same opponents, the match finished goalless at the Rare Breed Meat Co Stadium.

It leaves Weymouth 15th in the standings, nine points clear of the relegation zone, while Braintree are up in third, unbeaten in 14 matches.

Reflecting on the evening, Wilkinson told the club’s media: “A lot of people wished me happy birthday, but it wasn’t unless I got something here.

“I’m just really pleased for everyone at the football club, because we didn’t deserve to lose on Saturday.

“You saw an unbelievable performance (on Tuesday).

“We missed two or three clear chances. So a little bit disappointed with that, but to come here with the run they’re on, we got it right.

“Everyone to a man was phenomenal.”

The Terras boss continued: “Everyone knows I love this football club. I will continue to work hard for this football club every single day.

“I just wanted to show people I’m here, I’m fighting and we’re going to continue to work extremely hard.

“We’re building for the future, everyone knows that.

“I have to keep reminding everyone we were favourites to get relegated. We’ve just taken another point off one of the big boys.

“I think we definitely deserved to win.”

Terras needed a victory on the final day to avoid relegation last season, but are in a much more comfortable position this time around.

“I was really upset on Saturday when we conceded the sloppy goal, but (on Tuesday) you saw a team organised, managed it and we fought for the badge," said Wilkinson.

“It’s another great point. We need one more win and we beat last year’s tally.

“Two more wins will definitely keep us safe with eight games to go.

“That is so much different from last year.”
