TERRAS boss Bobby Wilkinson has called upon his side to smash last season’s points total in their remaining eight games.

Weymouth have the chance to surpass last campaign’s tally of 48 points when they host Havant & Waterlooville tomorrow afternoon (3pm), with three points enough to take Terras to the half-century mark.

Basement boys Havant have shown signs of life in March, picking up eight points from a possible 12 to start the month.

The Hawks are currently seven points away from safety, with Wilkinson believing many to expect his Weymouth side to come out on top at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday.

However, the Terras manager hailed his upcoming opponents as a “fantastic side” on paper.

He explained to Terras’ social media: “This is where football is a funny place, because everyone will expect me to beat Havant now.

“That’s when I get really surprised.

“Havant on paper are a fantastic side, but when people think I should be beating these teams, I should be going to the Aveley’s and winning, I think everyone needs to sit back and say ‘actually, what we’re doing here as a football club is unbelievable.’

“Yes, we believe we’re going to beat Havant, we know that’s going to be a challenge.

“We can’t compete with their budget, their budget is phenomenal. They’ve had a bad season, but they’re going to want to beat us.

“We’re going to want to pick up another win, if we can pick up another win we beat last year’s tally with seven to go.

“So that’s important to me as well, because I want to just keep smashing everything we’ve done since we came in from day one here.”

Wilkinson also made a special mention to his wife, who has had to put up with him spending his midweek nights elsewhere as he attempts to get the upper hand of Terras’ upcoming opponents.

He continued: “We know this is going to be a challenge against a very good side. We’ll prepare properly, show Havant all the respect in the world, work extremely hard.

“I went to watch them last Wednesday, that’s why I said thank you to my wife and all that because I have been watching games nearly every night.

“Then on Sunday I’m going to travel to watch Bath versus Worthing, because we’ve got Bath the week after.

“We’ve got three real tough challenges ahead of us. We’ll prepare right.”
