MARK Molesley feels like he has moved “back home” following his sensational return to Weymouth.

Molesley, 43, guided the Terras to back-to-back promotions in 2018/19 and 2019/2020 before moving on to Southend United.

He has since had short spells at Aldershot, Gosport and Hayes & Yeading but arrives back at Weymouth with legendary status thanks to his earlier Terras exploits.

Weymouth unveiled the ex-Bournemouth midfielder prior to the abandoned derby with Yeovil Town.

And Molesley, who with 90 wins from 156 matches overseen possesses the fourth-highest win percentage of any Weymouth manager in history, expressed his pride in coming back to the Terras.

He told Weymouth’s media team: “I’m really excited, it’s great to be back home, so to speak. Really exciting times hopefully on the horizon.

“The friendly faces and all the good feeling I’ve felt from the people is great but that’s going to fuel my fire even more to make sure we make this club and community proud of us and the team.

“I drove down the seafront on my way in just to take it all in, then you get in to the ground and there are so many familiar friendly faces and fantastic support out there. The lads must’ve loved playing in front of that.

“It’s our aim to have more days like this. A packed-out Bob Lucas is a sight to behold.”

And Molesley revealed Weymouth were never far from his heart, adding: “It’s the first result I always look for and there are so many good people down there.

“It was a real special time we had here. Do we want to recreate it? Absolutely. Nothing’s ever the same, we were a small part of the history then.

“We want to try and emulate all the great moments of history at this club. The new players, if there is, and players that stay, are rightly standing on the shoulders of giants.

“The shirt means something, this club means something. Everyone who comes in has got to make sure they’re fighting for the shirt.

“That’s one thing from the performance I’ve seen, is that they wear the shirt with pride and run for each other.

“They’re definitely showing the hallmarks I want to see in the team. We're going to be certainly working hard every day.

“That’s the only one guarantee you’ll get with me, is that I’ll do my best, just as I’ve done with everything in life.

“Last time was special but this is a new era, a new time.”

Molesley’s first assignment comes at Eastbourne on Saturday (3pm).
