TOMORROW Dorchester close their Counties One Tribute Southern South season with a trip to third-placed Swanage & Wareham (2.30pm).

Swans won the first game of the campaign back in September with a 38-13 victory at Surcouf Park.

The county town outfit have picked up seven wins this term along with one draw and have lost out on four occasions in the last minutes of the game.

Whilst they have amassed the third-highest amount of bonus points in the table courtesy of high-scoring games, the dropped points would have put them firmly in the top half of the table.

With the fourth-highest tally of points scored, it shows the young side can attack well with possession. Dorchester are unable to move up a place from eighth but also cannot be overtaken by the team below them.

They will end their campaign in a competitive league with some injury disruptions and a young squad, giving them a solid base to build from next season.

No doubt the final game will be a highly competitive affair with both sides looking to take the win at Bestwall to end the season on a high. Dorchester will again have some young players stepping into senior rugby from their own strong Colts side, giving homegrown talent the opportunity to stake a claim for next year’s squad.

The team, led by Steve Tucker, will welcome front-rower Danny Glynn into the matchday group,  both George Foot and Charlie Sharpe return from injuries and Flynn Drummond returns to the squad on the wing.

Ollie Wills will also make another appearance for the squad whilst Jack Adams and Scott Clark will be absent from the group this week. Some positional changes will be required due to absences which will be finalised at training with players given the opportunity to step up.

Coaching team, captain and vice-captain will be wanting a good performance to end the league campaign on a positive.

The side begin their cup competition run on Saturday, April 13 at home to Kingsbridge.

Divisional rivals Weymouth & Portland host Avonvale tomorrow.

Elsewhere, Dorchester A travel to Salisbury in their last league match of the Counties Three Tribute Dorset & Wilts campaign, looking to pick up a victory on the road against a side with similar form this term.

Again, the side are unable to move up or down in the table, so will be playing for pride in the jersey this weekend.

After their respective trips away, both sides will come together for the annual players’ dinner back at Surcouf Park to celebrate individual actions, but ultimately success on and off the field and a group of players who pull together as a growing senior squad and work for each other.

The club as a whole can celebrate its place in the community having been in existence for over 150 years now.
