PORTLAND United are hopeful of a more open game with Petersfield Town tomorrow (3pm).

The Blues and the Rams shared a 0-0 draw in the Velocity Wessex League Premier Division three weeks ago.

Portland boss Kyle Critchell admitted his players found the Hampshire side difficult to break down and is eyeing up more space to work with, should Petersfield open up at home.

He told Echosport: “With regards to our own performance, on the day I don’t think we were at full throttle.

“We’ve got a fully-fit squad going into Saturday. Hopefully we can put on a better performance.

“Any away game is difficult, we know that, but we’re in good form. Our away form is much better this season than it was last, so lots to be positive about.

“We’re probably quite similar as football clubs. I know a few of their experienced boys and they promote within, they look to use their under-23s and youth teams to give themselves a platform for players.

“Moving forwards, with regards to the game, it’s going to be quite competitive but one they’re going to have to come out on a little bit more than last time.

“So, from a tactical point of view, I think they may be more aggressive and attacking which will hopefully allow us to capitalise.

“If it’s a similar game, we’re going to have to work hard on the areas that we didn’t last time.”

Together with their clean bill of health for the contest, Portland have no suspensions meaning the Blues are at full strength.

“There will be some missing out, which is a difficult part of the process,” Critchell admitted.

“It’s healthy and we’ve got a lot of games coming up to finish the season.”
