MARK Molesley admits he must put nostalgia to one side and focus on the task in hand at Eastbourne Borough tomorrow (3pm).

Molesley will at Priory Lane be overseeing his first game in charge since returning to the club as Bobby Wilkinson’s successor.

The Terras could with a victory mathematically secure their position in the Vanarama National League South for 2024/25.

Heading into his second spell at the Bob Lucas Stadium, Molesley admits he will remain “process-driven” and will enjoy his first training session with his new squad.

He told Echosport: “This decision to come back was definitely made with my heart and head.

“I can’t allow myself to think about anything other than giving my best for the club. It is nostalgic but the work starts now.

“It was a lovely day for me to come back to the club on Monday at quite an iconic game and to be announced manager was a real special moment for me and my family.

“Now, it’s all systems go. I can’t think about what happened before and too much in the future. It’s just about how can we prepare, train the players the best we can.”

On potentially securing safety this weekend, Molesley added: “The league table is looking fairly secure for the club.

“It’s about trying to win as many games as we can, but it’s also about trying to install the standards and attitude we want to see going forward.

“We’re very process-driven. We’ll never get carried away. We’ll try and win the day, be the best we can and see where that takes us.

“We definitely want to have a strong end to the season. The players have shown what a strong group they are. They’ve rallied and come out of tough times.

“They were flirting just above the relegation zone and they’ve worked hard to pull themselves clear.

“I’m sure the players won’t want to see any of that hard work diminish with a slow end to the season.

“We want to finish as strong as we can and continue to build this football club.”

Molesley also hinted there was more at stake for the players than winning games between now and the end of the campaign on Saturday, April 20.

“We’re at the business end of the season and contracts are won and lost,” Molesley said.

“We’re in a pressure game but also my job is to take the pressure off them, let them express themselves.

“I want to give them everything I can to make them perform the best they can first and foremost for themselves but for Weymouth as well.

“We’re looking to build a project here and we want to surround ourselves with the right players.

“I want to prove myself to the players but it’s a two-way street. I want to make sure the players prove themselves to me as well.”

Molesley will also keep Weymouth’s processes consistent during the run-in, especially with regards to training.

He said: “I’m in assessment mode at the moment. To come in with a month left of the season, it’s about me assessing how everything runs at the club now.

“Seeing what works, what doesn’t and what we can improve on. There won’t be any massive changes from me from now until the end of the season.

“Trying to get logistics (in place) and facilities, that doesn’t happen overnight. At the moment there’s no great shakes from me.

“It’s carry on as we are and look to tweak and enhance it ready for next season.”

Brandon Goodship will be assessed with a hamstring issue, Molesley hoping the striker is suffering from “fatigue” rather than a strain.
