NEW Weymouth manager Mark Molesley believes he “always” has a point to prove as he prepares to oversee his first game back at the club.

Molesley on Monday was officially unveiled as the Terras’ new manager on a two-year deal, with assistant-boss Bradley Asagba also returning to the club.

While Molesley left Weymouth in 2020 having led the Terras to back-to-back promotions, he has little to do in convincing the home faithful of his abilities.

However, spells at Southend, Aldershot, Gosport and Hayes & Yeading have not lived up to the same heights.

Molesley is conscious of the need to demonstrate his qualities as a manager, though, tackling the issue when asked by Echosport.

He said: “You’ve always got something to prove in football, all the time.

“I’ve had some interesting experiences. No-one really cares from the outside what’s going on behind the scenes.

“I’ll always be thankful for all those opportunities. I’ve learnt a lot in all of them, attacked every job the same and given my absolute all.

“There’s been some steep learning curves for me and experiences. Football’s just a manifestation of life.

“Life’s tough. You’ve got to go through tough times if you want to get better and improve yourself.

“I certainly feel I’ve gone through those tough times. I keep that personal to myself. You won’t see me on any platform talking or moaning about certain situations.

“I give everyone the best I’ve got and I’ll certainly be giving this club everything I’ve got and more.”

With victory at Eastbourne this afternoon, Weymouth could wrap up their place in the Vanarama National League South for 2024/25.
