DORCHESTER Town manager Tom Killick has spoken of the deep “connection” between fans and players as the Magpies arrive on the brink of safety.

Their stunning run of 10 games unbeaten has catapulted them from the clutches of the bottom four to ninth.

It means Dorchester could seal safety in this afternoon’s home game with Hanwell Town, needing only a point.

Dorchester could even achieve safety despite losing, if Tiverton do not beat Chesham, Poole beat Beaconsfield and Hayes do not beat Gosport.

But, for Killick, the bond between Dorchester’s players and support has been a key factor in taking the Magpies to the cusp of security.

Such has been the impressive turnaround, some are even tipping the Magpies for promotion in 2024/25.

And Killick highlighted the importance of the feel-good factor at clubs in Step 3.

He said: “I’ve been so impressed with the support that we’re getting, so happy about the connection that there seems to be between the players and supporters.

“There is a really good feeling around the club and it makes it a very happy place to be for everyone concerned.

“That’s something as a manager that I’ve always wanted. That’s what I always try and have. I’m not saying by any means that it’s my doing.

“It’s something I feel is very important at this level that there is a genuine camaraderie around the whole club.”
