WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley shook off the Terras’ dry spell in front of goal, insisting: “I’m sure the goals will flow”.

Molesley’s men have failed to score in 270 minutes since his return to the club, losing 1-0 and 2-0 at Eastbourne and Maidstone respectively before drawing 0-0 at Welling.

In all three matches, Weymouth have carved out chances and enjoyed long periods of possession without getting the reward of goals.

It comes as Weymouth adjust to Molesley’s attractive passing-based style, departing slightly from previous boss Bobby Wilkinson’s energetic, high press and balls into the channels.

After Weymouth’s third shut-out in succession at Welling, Molesley told Echosport: “We did come agonisingly close, their keeper’s made some fantastic saves.

“There was plenty of action in there and we’ve got good players. If you keep making the chances and getting into the final third, I’m sure the goals will flow.”

Molesley did note Weymouth’s lack of goals as a minor worry but any anxiety is tempered by Weymouth’s progress in other metrics of the game.

He added: “It’s always a concern. Also, I’m looking at some of the other performance indicators.

“The first thing I was looking for was the performance and application.

“The second thing I’m looking for is how we progress the ball and how we do the other bits.

“Each performance I’m seeing things and we’re already into fixing and making things better.

“Each game the players have listened to the information and got better. Maidstone, that was certainly the case.

“A bad start, but we tweaked a few things and it was an even game after that. (Welling) we’ve done even better.

“Hopefully we can do that Thursday and Saturday and just keep trying to improve. That’s the next bit.

“The icing on the cake is obviously three points and the goals.”

Weymouth’s penultimate game of the season comes in Gloucester, the temporary home of Truro, on Thursday (7.45pm).
