DORCHESTER Town manager Tom Killick is eager to extend the Magpies’ unbeaten run at Tiverton tonight (7.45pm), insisting: “I don’t want to give it up easily”.

Killick’s men are finally safe after winning four successive games, beating Hanwell Town 2-1 on Saturday.

They are on a streak of 11 matches without defeat but face a Tiverton side bang in trouble, hovering one point above the drop zone in 18th despite beating champions Chesham 2-0 on Saturday.

Lurking behind Tivvy are Plymouth Parkway, armed with two games in hand on the side managed by Leigh Robinson, ex-Magpies’ boss.

It is also the fifth time of asking for the fixture to be completed due to waterlogging at Ladysmead.

And Killick has now turned his attentions to showcasing Dorchester’s ability, having beaten Tiverton 2-1 after playing 84 minutes with 10 men on Easter Monday.

“We had to grind that result out, we weren’t really able to show our true quality,” Killick told Echosport.

“It’s not a criticism or meant to sound disrespectful towards Tiverton but I don’t know what the quality of their pitch is going to be like, because that’s going to probably have a bearing.

“They beat Chesham so they’ve given themselves a great chance.

“From our point of view, I’d almost have preferred it, I’m not willing them to go down, but in terms of the game you don’t really want them coming into it off the back of beating Chesham and giving them a real platform to try and get out of it.

“They’ve got absolute quality players, particularly in forward areas, so it’s going to be a big test.

“We’ll have to assess what the conditions are going to be like and decide how we’re going to approach it.”

On Dorchester’s streak, stretching back to the 3-0 loss to Gosport in February, Killick added: “I do feel when you’re on a run, we’ve worked brilliantly hard to get ourselves deep into this run. I don’t want to give it up easily.

“That’s not in any way being negative towards the players that have been on the periphery, but I feel I have to just carry on being ruthless in terms of the selection.

“We want to maintain what we’re doing.”

Will Spetch and Jack Dickson remain suspended until the final day, while Lewis Toms comes into contention.
