YEOVIL Town have released four former Weymouth and Dorchester Town loanees, following the unveiling of the Glovers’ player retention list.

Mark Cooper has opted not to renew the contracts of ex-Terras loanees Malachi Linton and Will Dawes.

Meanwhile, youngsters Ollie Haste and Benjani Jr, both of whom have enjoyed time at Dorchester Town this season, will also leave Huish Park this summer.

Linton’s exit will be a particular eye-catcher for Weymouth, given his impressive form at the Bob Lucas Stadium this season.

He managed five goals and one assist in 11 games, all under previous boss Bobby Wilkinson.

Whether new boss Mark Molesley elects to pursue the striker remains to be seen, but he could provide a target man in similar fashion to how Molesley deployed Ben Thomson in his first spell as boss.

Dawes, meanwhile, played only 73 minutes in three games during a loan with Weymouth in the 2022/23 campaign.

Across the Ridgeway at Dorchester, the availability of Haste will be a major talking point this summer.

Haste has been hugely influential for the Magpies, scoring three times in 39 appearances from left-back in what has been a youthful back line this season.

Haste also featured in every game of Dorchester’s incredible 12-match unbeaten streak, which came to an end at Basingstoke on Saturday.

Benjani Jr, meanwhile, struggled to make as telling an impact up front.

Benjani, the son of Manchester City and Portsmouth striker Benjani Mwaruwari, was in October recalled by Yeovil having failed to score in eight matches for the Magpies.

Meanwhile, Sam Pearson, another former Weymouth loanee, has been offered a new contract by Yeovil and is currently in talks regarding a potential deal.
